The years 2014-2022 were the warmest on record. Rising temperatures increase the likelihood of weather-related events occurring more frequently and with greater intensity. In addition to these physical changes in the global climate system, efforts to reduce greenhouse gases are changing prices, demand and technologies. MEAG is working to account for the risks and opportunities arising from these change processes, and to put into practice Munich Re's Group-wide commitment to help accomplish the goals of the Paris Agreement.

Human rights are the cornerstone of a just and inclusive society. MEAG supports fundamental principles for the protection and furtherance of human rights and is committed to respecting human rights in everything we do. For instance, we are actively involved in the PRI Advance stewardship initiative to address human rights issues together with other investors.

The loss of biodiversity that comes with high extinction rates is a serious problem. The continuing current decline in biodiversity is unprecedented in the history of humanity. MEAG is involved in leading initiatives in the field of biodiversity, such as the Nature Reference Group, which is headed by the investor initiative UN Principles for Responsible Investment.
